Nerd Nite is a monthly event during which several folks give fun-yet-informative presentations across all disciplines – while the audience drinks along.
It's like the Discovery Channel… with beer!
Join in celebrating our 4th birthday/anniversary with cake, games, and 3 great talks.
This month's speakers and topics:
1) «What’s Resilience got to do with it?» by Margarita Wells, Resilient 305
The word resilience gets tossed around more than organic kale in a hipster’s salad, but much like kale, most of us don’t understand why resilience is good or how we can reap its maximum benefits. From sea level rise to affordable housing, Resilient 305 is tackling challenges to build a region that is not only prepared to survive but thrive in the face of shocks like hurricanes and stressors like beach erosion. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the City of Miami Beach, the City of Miami, and Miami Dade County to engage the best and brightest minds in our community and create a roadmap for making greater Miami resilient.
Margarita Wells, LEED AP, M. ASCE is the City of Miami Beach’s Environment & Sustainability Assistant Director. Ms. Wells is also responsible for providing technical support in the development and implementation of the city's sea level rise adaptation and resiliency planning programs.

2) «2018 Democracy Download» by Engage Miami
The 2018 mid-term elections are coming up and there are some really important things on the ballot. Sometimes, though, it can be hard to know how to make sure you have the right information. Engage Miami will help us sort through all the complicated amendments and share resources so we can understand a candidates position in an awesome live voter guide presentation for you!

3) A Nerd's Guide to Starting Conversation and Flirting
by Dan Silverman, Miami Matchmaker and Dating Couch
In this interactive presentation, Dan will teach you how to approach that person you're interested in at the other side of the bar and how to spark up a conversation. You will learn styles of approaching, non-verbal communication, and a few great techniques to get noticed. If you are shy and want to have the ability to confidently socialize and meet more people when you go out, you can't miss this presentation.
